Description
This lot consists of an unframed oil painting on unstretched canvas, done in the Post-Impressionist style of Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947). "Bonnard" hand written at bottom left. Overall painted portion of canvas measures approximately 18.25" x 23.75".
Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947) was a painter, illustrator, and printmaker known for his bold use of color and for being a founding member of the Post-Impressionist painters' group, Les Nabis. Bonnard was strongly influenced by the work of Paul Gauguin and Katsushika Hokusai. Claude Roger-Marx remarked that Bonnard "catches fleeting poses, steals unconscious gestures, crystallises the most transient expressions."

Condition
Overall good condition. Edges of canvas are rough and frayed. Chips and bumps around edge of painted surface. Signature and colors remain solid, bold and show very well. Paint is solid and in tact.
