Description

Canadian. 1890s. Black painted tin with gold stencilled script and decoration. This large and bright headlight was designed for use on a traction engine, but may have also been used in several other applications where a strong and bright light would be beneficial. Includes a facsimile copy of an 1895 Montgomery Ward & Co. catalogue in which a similar lamp was offered. Front stenciled, E.T. Wright & Co. / Hamilton, Ont." Both sides stenciled, "Traction Engine Headlight". Excellent original surface. Complete with fount, reflector dome, burner and chimney. From the Catherine Thuro Collection. 22.25"H x 14"W x 9.5"D. Extreme height 25".
