BIOGRAPHY:
Nicholas S. Dorosheff, 102, of Springfield died Monday at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1890, in Kamensk, Russia. He married Madeline Lutyens in 1943. Mr. Dorosheff graduated from the Novocherkask Military Academy in 1913, and served as a captain in a Cossack Regiment in World War I. At the
beginning of the Russian Revolution, Dorosheff returned to Southern Russia where he continued to serve under Czar Nicholas. Later he was forced into exile and made his way to America in 1923. He attended the University of Missouri and graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in organic
chemistry.
He retired in 1978, and was honored by the congregation of Douglas Avenue Methodist Church, where he was a member. He was also a member of Springfield Art Association and Illinois Beekeeper Association.
Surviving are his wife, Madeline; three sons; nine grandchildren.
