This is a finely carved old wood sculpture of a female with burden ( vessel) atop her head with a wonderful realistic female form. This sculpture originates from the Mossi peoples of Burkina faso, West Africa. Carved from a single piece of wood with incised linear "scar" designs and an obviously well handled and weathered surface patina. This statue measures 27 inches tall. Provenance: Ex Frank Friedman collection, Nyack, New York.ConditionGood, well handled, weathered, What remains is solid.
