Description
Thisis a double page, superb map of Texas less than two decades after joining the Union. Settlements center mostly in eastern and central Texas with western Texas occupied by three large counties of El Paso, Presidio, and Bexar. The panhandle, noted as the El Llano Estacado or The Staked Plain, includes a large section of land that is unorganized. Much detail is offered including topography, rivers, depiction of the wagon roads with multiple of which named, railroads and the many cities, towns and villages. Insets include Plan of Sabine Lake, Plan of the Northern Part of Texas, and Plan of Galveston Bay. Decorative scrollwork border as expected from Johnson.
