Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese, 1797-1861), Six Woodblock Prints
Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1847, includes six woodblock prints from the series "Biographies of the Loyal Retainers," published by Eibya Rinnosuke, depicting Chushingura or the Loyal Retainers, based on the story of the forty-seven ronin and their mission to avenge the death of their master, Asano Naganori, all professionally framed identically, not examined outside of the frame.
Frame dimensions 21 x 16 1/4 in.
