The androgynous, child-like seated figure shows a pair of feline ears at the top of it's head along with fang-shaped projections at each shoulder and indicates the Chalchuapa Maya culture maintained the infant-jaguar connection which was a hallmark of both the earlier Olmec and later Classic Maya periods in Mesoamerica. The whistle mechanism is fully functional and emits a clear, somewhat breathy single note tone. A rare and exceptional example of a seated Olmecoid, Preclassic Maya 'baby' type figure.
