Description
18th C. Chinese porcelain bowl, exported by the Dutch East India Company in a ship which struck a rock and sank in 1752. Recovered in 1985 and sold to Christie's, where it was auctioned off. Blueish 'skim milk' white bowl with trees and a dwelling on a rocky coast over water in underglaze blue to the sides. Double ring in underglaze blue to interior edge. Christie's Nanking Cargo Lot 3032 paper label to base. Roughness, glaze chips and old shallow chips to rim, minor old chip to foot rim. Approx. 6 3/4" diameter, 3" height.
