A breathtaking abstract alabaster sculpture, skillfully carved by Richard "Dick" Rymill, this elaborate form with its undulating curves and intriguing openwork begs the viewer to appreciate it from all angles. What's more, the stone's dramatic veining and gorgeous coloration in shades of peach, rose, and beige as well as the surface's intriguing rhythmic dance between lustrous polished and jagged surfaces make for a most captivating work of art. While Rymill's sculpture suggests references to the organic, biomorphic world, it clearly departs from figurative traditions and joins a modernist celebration of form, medium, and experimentation, playing with geometry and space in a liberating fashion, free from the need to literally represent a subject or theme.
