Antique little brown stoneware handled jug with hand painted folk art stylized tulips typical design and colors of those found on Pennsylvania Dutch Artware/artwork. Painted dark chocolate brown with styized tulips of yellow and red with yellow scrolling around the top and base of jug. Made in the later part of the 1800s.

Hand formed in a potter's wheel by a highly skilled potter. A hand formed an applied handle. You can feel his thumb indentation space where he pressed and applied its loop handle into place. Still retaining its original cork. Not signed.

APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS

Height 8-1/2" tall and 5" across the bottom.

CONDITION

This jug has some imperfections. Good condition, especially considering it's age. No cracks. Surface and firing imperfections as expected with a piece of stoneware piece with this age. One chip on lip as shown in close-up photo and scratches in paint decorations. There are some light scratches and handling marks throughout with some minor paint loss. This painted jug displays very nicely. Sold as found.
