Description
A collection of five various antique Russian hand painted porcelain wares by the factory of the Partnership M.S. Kuznetsov. Two plates are adorned with hand painted floral and foliage motifs. The plates are marked with Partnership M.S. Kuznetsov green ink marks, and numbered, 373 of 563 and 3 of 452, on the backside. The collection also includes a milk jug, decorated with a gilded floral design; one white saucer with gilded rims; and a white and olive saucer, adorned with a floral motif and gilding. Marked with blue or red ink marks of the factory of the Partnership M.S. Kuznetsov. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The original factory, Brothers Kuznetsov at Novo Kharitonovo, was founded in 1810. In 1892 M S Kuznetsov purchased the the well established Francis Gardner Porcelain Factory. By the early twentieth century it had taken over many smaller factories and was soon responsible for almost two thirds of pottery and porcelain output in the Russian Empire. Produced goods of such fine quality that in 1902 the owner was bestowed the title of court purveyor.
