A charming, matched pair of gold earrings, each of a round hoop tapering to a hook and eye closure. The earrings are embellished with filigree clusters and pearl beads below the shank. Roman gold earrings with pearls were a fashionable accessory among wealthy and influential Romans. The richly decorated jewelry would have been a statement of wealth and status, and the pearls used to adorn them would have been particularly valuable.
