Kent Lemon (American, b. 1960). "Cool Weather" oil on canvas, 1985. Signed at bottom left of center and on verso. A gorgeous painting of Dawson Creek in Gunnison County, Colorado by Colorado artist Kent Lemon. Lemon depicted the winding creek with deciduous trees and evergreens lining the creek bed and mountains in the distance. Aptly titled "Cold Weather" Lemon clearly painted this piece on brisk autumn or winter day. All is delineated with Lemon's lush brushstrokes and palpable impasto in a tranquil color palette of cool blue, heather grey, snow white, mauve, teal, and golden yellow hues complemented by warm earth tones. A quintessential Colorado view rendered in plein-air by Kent Lemon and set in a stunning, museum-quality frame. Size of painting: 14" L x 18" W (35.6 cm x 45.7 cm) Size of frame: 19.7" L x 23.8" W (50 cm x 60.5 cm)
Kent Lemon studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the Parsons School of Design, New York. Following his years at Parsons, Lemon returned to Colorado and apprenticed with Ned Jacob and Mark Daily in Denver, Colorado. He is beloved for his plein-air paintings and his astute use of color.
