Signed by Jerry Uelsmann on print verso, dated 1982. "It is...the world of abstraction that holds special interest for Uelsmann. If it were not so, he might have been content with more conventional photography, the type that pays homage to the physical world; but he is fascinated by the unseen factors that complement the realm of the concrete. These factors are represented in his photography by the least physically substantial elements of the material world, such as water, clouds, and light. The concrete is represented by denser substances, such as wood and rock. The photographs suggest a fluid interplay between the abstract and the concrete in their varying degrees of visibility." - Reconciliations by John Ames in Process and Perception, 1985. Provenance: From a Los Angeles-based Collection.
