"The First Six Books of Virgil's Aeneid". Literally translated into English Prose by Davidson. With an Introduction by Edward Brooks, published by David McKay, 1896.
Hard boards, original publisher's cloth with dark brown lettering on front board and spine [wear and soiling: see photos]; 4.1/4" x 6.1/4"; owner's name [Anne Robinson, Petersburg, VA] is ink written inside front cover, 170 pages + publisher's adds, a few pencil marks and underlines, page# 33/34 has damaged blank margin [the text is not impacted: see photos]; good condition.
The Aeneid is a Latin epic poem, written by Virgil between 29 and 19 BC, that tells the legendary story of Aeneas, a Trojan who fled the fall of Troy and traveled to Italy, where he became the ancestor of the Romans. The first six books cover the story from the Trojan War, Aeneid adventures and travel before arriving in Italy. The book six contains a travel through the Underworld.
