Description
Child presents mother with a basket of flowers with an idyllic landscape in the background. Framed with meticulously detailed laurel leaves sewn into a wreath. Mixed media with pen and ink, watercolor and ribbon. 13 1/4 x 16 1/2 inches (overall). Inscription verso identifies the artificer as Sarah Maria Post (1811-1860), mother of Dr. Abner Post (Langdon) (1844-1934) of City Hospital and curator of the Harvard Museum (who wrote the inscription)
