Walter Addison, New York, 1914-1982. A framed charcoal drawing of an ape, signed Walter Addison, circa 1940-50 during his tenure as the lead artist of the Bronx Zoo. Some foxing and stains to mats, otherwise good condition. Sight size 17 3/4" x 20 3/4" and total frame size 31" x 33". Provenance: Consigned by family. All artwork was found in his cottage in Washington Depot, Connecticut, on the banks of the Shepaug River, where he lived with his wife Rhoda from 1965 until his death in 1982.
