Description
**Originally Listed At $800**
North America, ca. millions of years old. This is a beautiful collection of 6 crystals and minerals: orange calcite, gypsum strontium, and pyrite. The pieces are each large and display quite nicely on their own or together in a group. The first piece is a white gypsum with interesting vertical and parallel crystals that look silky, which is why this type is often known as satin spar. The next stone is pyrite on white quartz crystals- the golden pyrite looks as if it has formed bubbles- indeed this is a botryoidal form of pyrite. The next piece consists of cubic gray galena minerals on a stone matrix with scattered pyrite across the surface- almost like a piece of modern art. A generous piece of warm yellow-orange calcite is smooth throughout, and the blue celestite is quite sizable atop a quartzite formation. The final pyrite piece is also quite sizable with glimmering structures throughout. Size of celestite: 10" L x 6" W x 3.5" H (25.4 cm x 15.2 cm x 8.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-Stein collection, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, acquired prior to 2010
