HELEN STRUVEN (MARYLAND, 1909-1986) FANTASY PAINTING, oil on canvas, depicting a spring scene, singed lower left. Housed in likely original frame. Together with a landscape titled "Manhattan Summer Morning", two pieces total. Possibly from the Bethelgate series. Circa 1970. 13 1/2" x 17 1/2" sight, 16 1/2" x 20 12" OA.
Catalogue Note: Helen started out as a landscape and seascape artist, but her true passion was The Bethelgate Series, her unique style of painting influenced and visits the likes of Rick Sternbach, Lynn Barnes, Sylvia Starshine, and Connor Freff Cochran (FREFF), and she exhibited at the 1975 Baltimore Science Fiction Society convention.
