Description
(Brown Shoe Company, 1900's) A rare Buster Brown pocket watch with its very rare original box. Buster Brown and his dog Tige were popular comic strip characters who debuted in 1902. In 1904 they became mascots of the Brown Shoe Company, and the (2) promotional watches showing Buster and Tige are believed to be the first character watches ever created. The 2" diameter watch with nearly 1" long pendant is in good condition, with clear crystal, discoloration to the face from age, and scuffs and scratches to the case from handling. The watch does not function and requires service. The 3"x2.25" box is in very good condition for its age and scarcity, with wear from handling and a few pencil marks.
