Gerhard Richter (b. 1932) is a German painter known for his diverse range of styles and techniques, ranging from photorealism to abstract expressionism. He was born in Dresden and studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts before moving to Dusseldorf. Richter's art is characterized by his use of blurred images, muted color palettes, and layering of paint. He has been associated with the Fluxus and Capitalist Realism movements, and his works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Tate Modern in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Richter is considered one of the most important contemporary artists working today.
