The flag overprinted "Basket Ball/ Wed. Ev'g., March 9, '98/ Compliments of/ Orange Team," on glazed cotton ground, flag retains stick, mounted and framed.

Note

Syracuse University selected orange as its official color in 1890. The first basketball team was formed at Syracuse in February of 1898. The game advertised on the parade flag occured within a month of the team's first season.
