Grandville, Jean-Jacques (JJ) (French 1803-1847) "Rien n'est si dangereux qu'un ignorant ami"(Nothing is so dangerous as an ignorant friend). Black and white lithograph on wove paper. La Caricature Plate 191, No 93; Print shows a bear acting as a censor holding a large rock labeled "Procès saisie[s]" over its head which it is going to use to crush an insect labeled "Caricature journal" that has landed on the shoulder of the king, Louis Philippe, lying on the ground. No printing en verso. Acquired from the estate of George Longstreet, a renown collector of fine original illustrations and prints whose collection has appeared in dozens of museums and exhibits over the last four decades.
