Description
New York: Multiples Inc. and Castelli Graphics, (1975). Complete set of 10 off-set lithographic cards, each measuring 6 1/8 x 4 in. (155 x 102 mm); numbered 1-10 in print on verso; loose as issued in original printed stiff folder, inscribed to the consignor by Warhol in ink on front wrapper, "To Ira & Tony (sic) / Andy Warhol"; card #9 also signed by Warhol along top right edge.
A fine and complete set of promotional cards printed to advertise Andy Warhol's then forthcoming portfolio of 10 silkscreen portraits of Rolling Stone's iconic frontman Mick Jagger.
This set was signed in person by Warhol to Toni Volk, and her then husband, Ira Genstein. As Toni relates on their relationship with Andy: "Our relationship with Andy Warhol led us to trade rare Surrealist art with him for dozens of his prints and silkscreen paintings. He loved our collection of rarities as much as I did."
