Description
**First Time At Auction**
Roman, late Imperial Period to early Byzantine, 300 to 500 CE. A rare set of 2 stamped pendants with slightly raised images, each formed from translucent or semi-translucent glass of aqua and cobalt blue hues. The first stamp bears the image of a right-facing lion standing beneath an encircled star, and the second stamp features a right-facing figure holding a bow, perhaps Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 0.6" W x 0.87" H (1.5 cm x 2.2 cm); 2.625" H (6.7 cm) on included custom stand.
Exhibited in "Ancient Glass: Selections from the Richard Brockway Collection" at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University, Salem from March 10 to May 19, 2007 and "Glass of the Ancient World" at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Florida from October 11 to December 28, 2008.
Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired before 2003

Condition
Both with light earthen deposits and some micro-bubbling, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to stamped decorations.
