Walter M. Cade III was born in New York City in 1936. He is an American artist who is best known for his work in the field of printmaking. Cade studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his MFA in printmaking. Cade's work often explores themes of nature and the environment, and he has been particularly interested in the landscapes and wildlife of his native Pennsylvania. He is known for his use of traditional printmaking techniques, such as etching and aquatint, as well as more experimental methods, such as digital printing and collage. Throughout his career, Cade has exhibited his work widely, including at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the National Academy of Design. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Library of Congress, the British Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In addition to his artistic career, Cade has also been involved in art education. He has taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, among other institutions. He has also served as a juror for numerous exhibitions and competitions, and has written and lectured extensively on the subject of printmaking.
