Item Details
Description
Ken Fuller (American, 1935 - ) Painting. Title - Letter to the Brocks. Oil on canvas trompe l'oeil painting. Highly detailed and realistic painting depicts a painted Abraham Lincoln portrait, an intricately painted postmarked letter with a Lincoln postage stamp and $5 Lincoln note bill. The carefully painted Lincoln composition appears to be tacked to a wood cabinet door but surprisingly the hinges, hook, tacks and knob are all painstakingly hand painted to create the illusion of trompe l'oeil. Signed lower right Ken Fuller. Painting measures 16 inches high, 12 inches wide. Frame measures 20 inches high, 16 inches wide. On the reverse signed - 1989 By Ken Fuller - with his business card and artist's biography. In good condition.

From LiveAuctioneers.com: Artist statement - My style of painting makes viewers see something that isn't. I paint in the trompe l'oeil style that means 'fool or trick of the eye'. My subjects are rustic; letter racks, old door knobs and hinges. I treat my subjects as fun as well as nostalgic. That tends to be pleasing to the viewer. Born and raised in New England , I was influenced by the many well known artists that summered in my home town of Mystic, Ct. I attended the University of New Mexico Fine Art course for one year, then transferred to Paier Art School in Hamden, Ct. At Paier, I came under the influence of Ken Davies who provided me with the knowledge to achieve the trompe l'oeil style of painting. My works are included in many private and corporate collections; have been on exhibit in numerous museums and galleries in the country as well as several foreign countries. With more than 40 years experience in painting and teaching fine art, I continue to work in the style that first excited me in Art School.
