Description
A large and highly decorated and unusual 18th/19th c Persian or Mughal Indian koftagari inlaid gold and silver on steel circular dhal shield. Intricately decorated with written nastaliq script to the border. Central motif depicts scenes of war and battle. Men on horseback wild swords and shields cutting their opponents in half. The scene is carefully executed with great symmetry and flow. The characters are arranged poetically and evenly distributed around the center gold inlaid symbol. A great piece of antique arms and armament historical significance. Areas of corrosion and decay throughout. Condition is as photographed. 17" diameter
