Description

Scarce Blue Dress Version. Made by Shepard Hardware Company. Buffalo, New York - Ca. 1890. The Speaking Dog Bank is arguably one of the prettiest toy banks ever made. It depicts a sensitive moment between a young girl and her faithful pet companion. Shepard Hardware was the original maker of the Speaking Dog, however, when they shuttered their factory in the early 1890's, they sold their patent rights and molds for this toy bank to the Stevens Company. The quality of this specimen is immaculate.
