TWO 20TH CENTURY JAPANESE PORCELAIN TAPERING OVIFORM VASES. The first of early 20th century date, decorated with a blue pheasant and other birds amongst flowering pink prunus and leafy branches on a celadon coloured ground, the other decorated in the Satsuma palette with boats and huts on islands, within dark blue and printed gilt borders, printed Made in Japan marks. The first 47.5cm high the second 48cm high. (2)
Condition
The vase with celadon ground is extensively cracked across with old riveted repairs, old filled hole and extending hairline cracks, some wear to enamels. The blue ground vase with some wear to flaking to enamels and gilt border, with a crack travelling down from upper rim into neck which is only visible to the interior.
