Description
Henry Spencer Moore, English, 1898 to 1986, limited edition bronze sculpture, Three Points. Circa: late 20th century. Originally was designed from 1939 to 1940, cast before 1949. Presented by the artist in 1978. Signed, Moore, and numbered 2 of 3 with engraving on the side. The use of space in Three Points creates a sense of anticipation. Comprised of three thorns like forms that converge but do not touch, Three Points has been interpreted by critics as expressing a sense of menace or threat, while Moore himself considered it to animate something akin to an electrical charge. Numerous art historical precedents for the sculpture have been identified, including works by Michelangelo, Picasso, and Giacometti, revealing it to be one of Moore's most widely discussed abstract artworks. Henry Moore was an English sculptor whose organically shaped, abstract, bronze and stone figures constitute the major 20th-century manifestation of the humanist tradition in sculpture. British School Bronze Abstract Sculptures, Statues, Statuettes, Figurines, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
