Clifford Kennedy Berryman (1869-1949) Political Cartoon Pen & Ink drawing iIllustation depicting President Theodore Roosevelt seated in his office chair, game heads mounted on the wall, politician and hunting guide stand in the doorway behind him and Berryman’s noted "Teddy" bear cub figure is seated on a stool beside Roosevelt. Signed "Berryman", also inscribed "Clarissa L. Townsend – From C.K. Berryman"; c.1904-1907. The artist was a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist for the Washington Star newspaper and also for the Washington Post; one of his most noted cartoons titled "Drawing The Line In Mississippi" depicts a scene of hunter Theodore Roosevelt showing compassion towards a bear cub, which inspired New York Store owner Morris Michtom to create the "Teddy Bear". 17 in. high x 17 in. wide. Frame: 21.75 in. high x 21.75 in. wide.
