Notes/Literature: The 1970 Stakes was won by Nijinsky, ridden by Lester Piggott, trainer Vincent O'Brien, owner Charles Engelhard. In this year Nijinsky became the first horse in thirty-five years to win the English Triple Crown, a feat that has not been repeated. He is regarded as one of the greatest European flat racehorses of the 20th century, ridden by one of the worlds foremost jockeys.
