Rape of Sabine Woman, originally rendered in marble, has inspired numerous editions, as well as various versions of the subject. Figure shown here, circa 1800, was one modified to cover nudity of its 3 figures by skillfully adding a single length of draped cloth. Statue rests on its original red marble base.
