Large, rare, folk art Cushing Equestrian Zinc Weathervane.Pictured in The L.W. Cushing catalogue of 1878. This was several years before joining with The White Co. to become Cushing & White. The horse is "Ethan Allen" and is cast in a rare form i.e. the size & proportions (having a thin body). It is all in its beautiful, original form & patina. Ethn Allen and Dan Patch were the equines who ruled the vane world at that time, likely copying period lithographs. This vane was found in New York state but Cushing was located in Waltham, Mass. Note metal tear at the top of the tail.Size: 41 x 22 3/4 in.$2360
