Description
A rare and unusual porcelain chimera figure with incised scales and mane and beautiful variegated blue and oxblood "flambe" glaze, c. Late 18th-Early 19th Century. On a fitted carved rosewood stand. Provenance: Purchased from Warren Imports of California for $2,750 in 1997. Dimensions: (With stand) H 17" x W 12" x D 8" Condition: Old repair and chip to right horn and ear. Old crack/separation to bottom edge below tail - likely inherent. Natural crazing and firing imperfections. Repaired break to wood stand.
