Description
Thomas Kinkade (1958-2012) was an American painter known for his romanticized and idealized scenes of landscapes, cottages, and villages. He often depicted his subjects in a soft and glowing light, which became a signature style of his paintings. Kinkade's works were widely popular and sold in galleries, malls, and through various merchandise, such as prints, calendars, and even home decor items. He referred to himself as the "Painter of Light" and claimed to be the most-collected living artist in the United States. However, Kinkade's paintings received mixed reviews from art critics, who criticized his work as being too sentimental and commercial. Despite the criticism, his popularity among the general public remained high until his untimely death in 2012.
