He captured the essence of his subjects through his elegant and often sensual images, which included photographs of supermodels such as Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington. In addition to his photography work, Ritts also directed music videos and commercials for high-profile clients such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Calvin Klein. He passed away on December 26, 2002, due to complications from pneumonia.
