Description
Hiroshi Sugimoto is a Japanese photographer and architect born on February 23, 1948, in Tokyo, Japan. Sugimoto is best known for his minimalist, large-format photographs, which explore themes of time, memory, and perception. His works often depict the natural world, architecture, and cultural artifacts, and he has gained international recognition for his contributions to contemporary art. Sugimoto studied at St. Paul's University, Tokyo, and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Sugimoto's work has been published in several books, including "Theaters" (2000), "Architecture" (2000), and "Seascapes" (2003). He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography in 2001.
