Kurt Cobain was an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Nirvana. He was born on February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington.
Cobain formed Nirvana in 1987 with bassist Krist Novoselic, and the band released their debut album, Bleach, in 1989. The band's second album, Nevermind (1991), propelled them to worldwide fame and is widely considered one of the most influential albums in rock history.
Cobain's songwriting and vocal style, along with his raw emotion and vulnerability, helped establish Nirvana as one of the most important bands of the early 1990s grunge movement. Some of the band's most popular songs include "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Come as You Are," and "Lithium."
Despite his success, Cobain struggled with drug addiction, depression, and chronic health issues throughout his life. He died by suicide on April 5, 1994, at the age of 27. His death was a shock to the music world and is still mourned by many of his fans.
