Item Details
Description
first half 19th century, 163 x 113 cm, Central Caucasus, Elizabethpol

This early Genje has a field design of diagonal stripes in white, yellow and dark blue that are decorated with small flowering plants. The large scale of all the motifs, including those of the main border, and the quality of the luminous colours are certain indications of age. â€â€œ Expertly restored areas, low pile, otherwise well preserved.

Provenance: Collection of James D. Burns, Seattle
