Description
A GEORGE III BRASS BOUND AND INLAID MAHOGANY CELLARETTE WINE COOLER, ENGLISH, CIRCA 1800, the figured mahogany elliptical top with central shell pateræ encircled by a chevron "wheat" string inlay within a flat brass band having a fan shaped pull and cockbead edge opening to a paneled interior with removable painted metal ice bucket liner, the tapering elliptical body flanked by lions mask handles is fitted on the exterior with flat bands of polished brass over a flat skirt and raised on slightly splayed, square tapered legs on spade feet. Height: 27 3/4" Width: 24" Depth: 18 1/2" Provenance: Theta Antiques Show, Houston, Texas, 1970s; Estate of Mr. And Mrs. Thomas Dunaway Anderson, River Oaks, Texas.
Condition
Apparent wear including but not limited to dents, gouges, veneer bubble, cracks, polish residue and buildup in crevices, rusted liner with paint loss, debris and dust. A crack at hinge area with apparent use. Wear expected.
