Baskin, Leonard, text by Joseph Conrad, Conrad's Manifesto: Preface to a Career, copy LV of C (55 of 100) of the deluxe edition that includes a laid in woodcut of Baskin's portrait of Joseph Conrad that is signed by Baskin in pencil and printed on Shizuoka vellum paper (another example of the woodcut image is also included on the regular paper as the frontispiece), 1966, First edition, published and printed by Leonard Baskin at his Gehenna Press for the A.S.W. Rosenbach Foundation, hardcover, 4to., marbled paper over boards, with original slipcase and folder (12 x 9.5 inches), paper title label, title page printed in red and black, illustrated with facsimiles of Conrad's original handwritten notes for the essay, finally, Baskin also designed the brilliant woodcut device on the colophon of a pomegranate tree that served as the Gehenna Press logo.
Condition
The book in very good+ condition, with light wear to the outer hinges (as usual); slipcase good with some soil and handling, paper label chipped, sturdy.
