Description

Unusual Victorian Rosewood "Fantasy" Piano Chair

third quarter 19th century, in the Rococo taste, the asymmetrical, padded back with a fruit- and foliate-carved frame, and centered with a carved coat of arms and crown, mounted to a tripodal pedestal base with a carved, displayed eagle perched on the scrollwork feet.
h. 39", w. 19", d. 18"

Condition

There is a chunk of wood gone to the top inside of the proper right arm support, approximately 1 x 2 inches. The left arm has a large section of filler at the top where the arm joins the back. The left proper eagle's wing is a re-carved replacement. It appears that part of the rear leg is missing and the face of the leg is repaired. NOTE: Chair does not swivel, and the height of the seat is not adjustable.
