Reference: Maud Spaer Ancient Glass in the Israel Museum: Beads and Other Small Objects: “The head of a Negroid youth with prominent cheekbones and brows, a broad nose, protruding mouth with full lips, tightly curled hair, and a long neck; originally both had a loop on top.” “The Negroid head is remarkable for the mere fact that so many identical pieces are known. The features are detailed and delicate; the color is almost always reported as purple (or violet). In all likelihood, this particular pendant type emanates from one and the same workshop. Another possibility is that the molds stem from a single source.”
