Description

Drake canvasback natural cork decoy by George B. Robert, Mastic, Long Island, New York. Often referred to as ''South Shore Flatties'', these are used in large rigs on the South Bay of Long Island. The paint appears original with some wear to the body and head along with some shot spray. The wooden keel has a lead weight and is pegged to the body. There is an age crack to the natural cork on the bottom but does not reach the back. 6-3/4''h, 6-3/4''w, 14''l. Provenance: Estate of Joseph ''Jay'' St. Mark, PhD, of Newtown, Connecticut, historian, appraiser, and collector of fine Americana.
