CARLETON WATKINS, ATTRIBUTED. Arcade Hotel, Sacramento. 11 x 9 inch albumen print on a 17 x 14 inch mount, 1870’s. Deaccessioned from the California State Library as they have another copy. There is a tiny library stamp at the left bottom of the verso. Some experts have noted that this is similar to other hotel images by Watkins, for example the arrangement of the carriage and figures in front of the building. The hotel in Arcade; near Sacramento, was built in 1870. The lower left edge of the mount is soft, and there is some wear along the edges. The print and the area around it on the mount are fine.
