"A Vanished World" photo book boldly signed by Roman Vishniac, with a foreword by Elie Wiesel. First Edition, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Hardcover in original dust jacket. Signed by the author on the flyleaf: To Frances, It should never happen again, Roman Vishniac, 1985. A second dedicatory inscription dated 2002 on the endpaper. The lot also includes a NYC Council proclamation in recognition of the photograpaher. Roman Vishniac, 1897 to 1990, was a Russian-American photographer, best known for capturing on film the culture of Jews in Central and Eastern Europe before the Holocaust.
