Description
Portrait of a 16th Century Dutch Gentleman O/C. The artist is unknown. Originally painted for display in an oval frame. The work is now framed in a modern wood and gold leafed gesso frame. Painting measures 25" X 30 3/8". Frame measures 30 1/2" X 35 3/4". Provenance: Dr. Michael and Bobbi Kaslow, Mt Pleasant, Tennessee, Rattle and Snap" Mansion. Condition- Canvas has been reduced in size, relined (upper portion of lining is loose and will not stay), craquelure, old repairs, in-painting, a "L" shaped tear in canvas measuring approx. 3" X 2", some paint losses, canvas is wrinkled and will need to be re-stretched, and two approx. 1" tears above subject's left ear.
