Description
of Frederick County, MD, in 4 binders (binders 3 & 4 contain typed full transcripts of the contents of the first 2 binders), binders 1 & 2 contain the handwritten 48 page journal primarily covering war years 1861-1862, with several additional pages continuing through 1864, most in ink, several in pencil, also contained are additional Ramsburgh family business and documents including an 1822 real estate transaction, 1829 tax receipt, 1868 estate tax receipt, 2 Charlotte Ramsburgh CDV's, as well as a CDV of her 'First Beau', Mr. Eugene Baugher, also contained in the book are 7 letters dating from 1829-1852, and while the journal entries cover the news of the day, the Civil War, it also includes copious entries relating to family affairs, church & religion, personal relationships, politics, President Lincoln and much more, additionally, there are hand written poems and/or song lyrics, in generally good condition with expected wear and varying degrees of issues given age and use, several lyric and journal pages with old tape residue to edges
Provenance: Part of a civil war collection of a Sullivan County, NY gentleman 90 years young. The collection spans 50 years and was acquired from shows, dealers and private collections throughout the east coast and midwest.
